BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Prairie View A&M’s Devonte Patterson and Jackson State’s Tristan Jarrett have been named SWAC Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week following standout performances this past week.
Patterson posted a season-high 27 points along with a season-high 14 rebounds in PVAMU’s 69-59 win over rival Texas Southern, a victory that gave the Panthers sole possession of first place in the league standings. He shot 10-of-16 from the floor and was also a factor on the defensive side with seven steals and a pair of blocks.
Jarrett contributed back-to-back solid outings versus Alcorn State and Southern respectively scoring 24 and 22 points. The Tigers won both contests as they improved to 7-4 in league play. Overall for the week Jarrett averaged 23.0 points per game along with 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting an impressive 46 percent from the field.
