Norfolk State is Unanimous #1 In Final Regular Season Div. I FCS Top-10 Poll Print E-mail

Hartly, DE – The final regular season Div. I FCS poll of 2011 have Norfolk State a unanimous choice for the top HBCU football team.   The final Div. II Poll was release last week.  This is Norfolk State’s second week in the number one position.  Each week during the 2011 season HSRN staff, along with selected media representatives and SIDs, ranked Historical Black Colleges Division I FCS and NCAA Division II teams. The final HSRN Top-10 Polls will be released after the post season action in Div. I -FCS and Div. II.
                               
In FCS action last week #1 Norfolk State was idle and the MEAC Champs will carry their #1 HBCU ranking into the Div.I-FCS playoffs.  Jackson State knocked off  arch rival Alcorn State 51-7 and kept its #2 ranking, while #6 Bethune Cookman defeated #3 Florida A&M 21-16.  BCU moved up to #4 with the win and Alabama A&M moved up to #3 and won the SWAC Eastern Division Championship with their 17-15 win over Prairie View.  #5 Alabama State was idle, and remained in that position and #10 Grambling State was also idle, but moved up one spot to #9 after #8 Howard fell to unranked Delaware State 39-36.  Howard fell out of the top-10 and made way for unranked Arkansas Pine Bluff to move in the top-10 after their 42-6 win over SWAC rival Texas Southern.
