 Hartly, DE – Alabama State and Winston Salem St. are unanimous choices in Week-8 in HSRN’s Div. I FCS and Div. II Top-10 polls.
Its Alabama State’s fourth and Winston Salem State’s fifth consecutive week in the number one position. Each week during the 2011 season HSRN staff and writers, along with selected media representatives and SIDs, will rank Historical Black Colleges Division I FCS and NCAA Division II teams.In FCS action last week only two of the top five saw action. #2 Norfolk State was upset 14-6 by Bethune Cookman, which moved the Wildcats into the top ten at the #9 position. Norfolk State dropped to the #4 position. #4 S.C. State was knocked off 27-24 by #9 Florida A&M, which moved the Rattlers to #6 and dropped the Bulldogs to #7. Jackson State was idle, but the Norfolk State setback moved them to #2. Alabama A&M was also idle and moved up to #3 after the S.C. State loss. In Div. II action, #2 Stillman was shocked by unranked Ft. Valley State 52-3, and dropped to #6. That setback moved Elizabeth City State to #2 after their 23-12 win over #10 Bowie State. The win also clinched the CIAA Northern Division title for the Vikings and a berth in the championship game against #1 Winston Salem State on November 12. Albany State moved up to #3, with their 19-13 win over Clark-Atlanta and Morehouse moved up to #4 after their 37-31 homecoming win over Benedict. Langston moved up to #6 with their 42-39 win over N.W. Oklahoma State and Miles moved up to #8 after their 37-3 win over Lane. Division I-FCS Top-10
