 Hartly, DE – S.C. State and Winston Salem St. are on top in Week-4 HSRN’s Div. I FCS and Div. II Top-10 polls.
Each week during the 2011 season HSRN staff and writers, along with selected media representatives and SIDs, will rank Historical Black Colleges Division I FCS and NCAA Division II teams.
The FCS polls has S.C. State receiving 19 first place votes and Bethune Cookman one and it was the Bulldogs holding on to the number one spot with their dominating 69-0 win over conference rival Delaware State. Jackson St. took a 21-14 setback to conference rival Alabama State and dropped from number two to number five. Bethune Cookman had a big 35-31 win over Hampton and moved to number two and Alabama State moved up to number three. Hampton dropped to number six and Norfolk State got a non-conference (33-3) win over Charleston Southern and moved to number four, which rounds out the top-five. Alabama A&M and Arkansas Pine Bluff moved into the top-10 at number nine and 10, after wins over Clark Atlanta (9-7) and Grambling St. (20-14).
In Div. II action, Winston Salem St. is in the top spot for the second straight week after their 56-20 win over Fayetteville St. Albany St. held on to the number two position with their 34-27 win over Miles and Morehouse moved to number three with their 25-21 win over Lane. Stillman knocked off Tuskegee 13-9 and moved to number four and Bowie State dropped from two to five after their 32-29 setback to Virginia Union.
