Terrance Joyner scored 22 points while Falando Jones posted a double-double leading Mississippi Valley State in an 85-66 win over Alcorn State to remain ubeaten in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jones and Paul Crosby had 14 points respectively, for the Delta Devils. MVSU, who has won a season-high four straight, outrebounded the Braves 48-32 and outscored them in the paint 28-18. JaMichael Hawkins scored 15 points to lead Alcorn State.
Texas Southern used on a 7-0 run in the game's final 1:36 to rally for a 61-57 win over Grambling State. Omar Strong, who scored 12 points, made two free throws giving Texas Southern a three point lead with 11 seconds left. Aaron Clayborn sank a foul shot with one second remaining for TSU’Sfinal margin of victory. Joyner finished with 11 points for TSU, who has won a season-high four straight. Quincy Roberts led Grambling with a game-high 22 points.
Derick Beltran nailed a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining lifting Southern University past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 69-68. Two 3-pointers, from Jameel Grace and Mike Celestin, sandwiched between two free throws by Arkansas-Pine Bluff set up Beltran's heroics as the Jaguars took possession with 19 seconds remaining. Beltran finished with 21 points on 7 for 11 shooting from the field. Grace and Celestin finished with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
The Golden Lions' Salavance Townsend led all scorers with 31 points.
Tramaine Butler scored 13 points and Alabama State trailed 26-19 at halftime but opened the second half with an 18-4 run over the first 8 minutes to lead 37-30. They made 5 of 8 free throws over the final 2:37 to preserve the win. Jeffrey Middlebrooks added 12 points, while Phillip Crawford had 10 for the Hornets. Demarquelle Tabb had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (3-11, 1-4).The Hornets lead the series 22-7 since 2000.
Louis Munks scored 25 points to lead Prairie View A&M to a 72-66 victory over Jackson State on Saturday night. Munks had 16 of his points in the first half, when the Panthers shot 51.6 percent and took a 39-29 lead into the break. Prairie View used a 13-2 run to pull ahead 20-10 with 8:14 left. The Tigers, who won their last seven meetings with Prairie View, gradually trimmed the deficit in the second half, when Christian Williams scored 16 of his 20 points, but couldn't climb all the way back. Jules Montgomery and Jourdan DeMuynck scored 12 points apiece for Prairie View, and DeMuynck led the Panthers with eight rebounds followed by seven from Munks. Jenirro Bush added 17 points for Jackson State, which has lost four straight, and Derrell Taylor grabbed 12 rebounds.

Cor-J Cox scored 23 points off the bench to lead Mississippi Valley State in a 77-56 rout of Southern. Five Delta Devils (6-11, 5-0 SWAC) scored in double figures as MVSU grabbed sole possession of first place in the conference. Paul Crosby added 18 points and 14 rebounds, Kevin Burwell had 12 points while Falando Jones and Terrence Joyner added 11 each. The Delta Devils held the Jaguars (8-11, 4-2) to just 9-of-25 shooting in the second half. The Delta Devils scored 23 points off 21 turnovers and outrebounded Southern 42-32. Derick Beltran led the Jaguars with 15 points and Quinton Doggett and Mike Celestin added 11 each.
Jenirro Bush scored 23 points and Christian Williams scored five in the final 22 seconds to lift Jackson State to a 54-51 victory over Texas Southern. Jackson State trailed 51-49 before Williams' 3-pointer gave the Tigers a one-point lead. Kelsey Howard scored 10 points and Williams nine for Jackson State, and Bush had eight rebounds. DaQuan Joyner scored 13 for Texas Southern, which had won its first four conference games by an average of 27 points.
Louis Munks scored 22 points and made five 3-pointers to lead Prairie View A&M to an 81-64 victory against Grambling in the Martin Luther King Jr. Basketball Classic. Demondre Chapman added 17 points, Ryan Gesiakowski 12 and Jourdan DeMuynck 11 for the Panthers (7-11, 3-2), who shot 53.4 percent from the floor. Prairie View A&M made 11 of 17 attempts from 3-point range. Quincy Roberts had 34 points, nine rebounds and three steals for the Tigers (3-13, 2-4). Brandon Dorsett added 11 points.
Daniel Broughton scored 23 points and Savalace Townsend added 19 to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 75-68 victory against Alcorn State on Monday night. Lazabian Jackson added 13 points for the Golden Lions (2-16, 1-4), who outscored Alcorn State 12-5 in the last 1:36. KeDorian Sullivan had 19 points and Xavian Rimmer 18 for the Braves (3-14, 1-5). After a missed Alcorn State shot, Townsend converted a crushing three-point play with 53 seconds left, and the Golden Lions protected the lead at the free-throw line.
