Miles at Stillman
In a game that decided the SIAC West Division Champion, the Miles College Golden Bears defeated the Stillman Tigers, 9-7, at Stillman Stadium in Tuscaloosa, AL.
With 9:34 remaining in the first quarter, Miles scored on a 4-yard run by Jordan Lewis to take an early 6-0.
Stillman would take the lead on a 7-yard run by Dondre Purnell and a successful extra point by Alejandro Perez-Huerta.
After a scoreless third quarter, Miles kicker Patton Chambers kicked a 26-yard field goal with 14:54 remaining in the game which proved to be enough to win the game for the Golden Bears.
David Thomas finished with 233 total yards, including 180 yards passing, to help Miles finish with 308 yards of total offense.
Stillman’s Marcus Matthews led all tacklers with 14, including 10 solo, followed by Ronrico Dunn with 11 tackles. Julanta English led Miles with six tackles while three others had five.

Clark Atlanta at Tuskegee
The Golden Tigers used a strong second-half performance to get back into the win column with a 24-3 SIAC victory Saturday against Clark Atlanta at Abbott Memorial Stadium.
The Golden Tigers (3-5, 3-3 SIAC) broke the game open with three second-half touchdowns after the score was tied 3-3 at the end of two quarters.
The Golden Tigers fell behind 3-0 in the first period when Kemuel Lawrence kicked a 50-yard field goal for Clark Atlanta (2-7, 1-5 SIAC). They tied the score in the second quarter on a 37-yard field goal by Eduardo Murillo. Kevin Phinazee recovered a fumbled punt return to set up the score.
Turnovers led to all three of the Golden Tigers’ second-half touchdowns. Tackle Adontavius Turner’s fumble recovery on the Panthers’ first possession of the third quarter led to the first touchdown, a 13-yard run by DeMario Pippen with 7:11 left in the period.
Reginald Davis recovered yet another Clark Atlanta fumble on a punt return late in the period and put the Golden Tigers in position to score again. This time Pippen got the touchdown on a 14-yard run.
Pippen led the running game with 94 yards on 11 carries. The Golden Tigers had 135 total yards rushing after only generating 81 in their 20-0 loss to Kentucky last week.
Nared finished the game with 43 yards passing while completing seven of 17 attempts. Williams was 3-for-6 for 73 yards, and he threw one interception.
The Golden Tigers defense, led by seven tackles from El’Malik Chinn, played well as Clark Atlanta’s offense gained just 72 rushing yards and 141 passing yards. Tuskegee sacked Clark Atlanta quarterbacks twice and came up with two interceptions.
Clark Atlanta’s Kiece Crite had a game-high 10 tackles, including seven solo, followed by Travis Porter with seven.

Benedict at Albany State
The Benedict College Tigers were held to a season-low 72 yards of total offense and couldn't stop the Albany State offensive attack and fell 37-13 to the Golden Rams on Saturday at the ASU Coliseum in an SIAC football game.
The Golden Rams jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead and cruised in the second half in front of crowd of nearly 10,000 in their Homecoming contest. The Rams improved to 7-2, 5-1 in the SIAC, and moved one step closer to a bid in the SIAC Championship while the Tigers dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the SIAC.
The Golden Rams finished with 465 yards of total offense, and picked up 21 first downs compared to four for the Tigers, and just one in the first half.
Albany took the opening-game kickoff and drove to the Benedict 11-yard line, where Cordell Rodgers intercepted Albany State quarterback Stan Jennings at the 1-yard line and returned it to the 6-yard line but the Tigers couldn't move the ball and were forced to punt, and Albany State's Orion Ponder returned the kick 53 yards for the Golden Rams' first touchdown. The Tigers fumbled on their next possession, and the Rams got a 40-yard field goal from Brand Hamilton for a 10-0 lead.
Albany had three long second-quarter drives, going 53, 71 and 81 yards for three more touchdowns. Jennings had touchdown passes to Ronnie Tubbs for 21 and 12 yards and Luther Edwards had a nine-yard touchdown run after a fumble that at first appeared to be Benedict ball, but was then ruled that Albany State recovered.
The Tigers opened the second half with a nice drive, moving to near midfield. Orion Ponder fumbled the punt Kendariss Brown recovered at the 10-yard line, and Thomas McBride ran the ball in on the next play to make the score 31-6.Benedict cut the lead to 31-13 with 3:09 left in the third quarter when Anthony Davis grabbed a fumble from Albany State's Adrian Alexander and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown.
The Golden Rams sealed the game on a one-yard run by Nathan Hoyte with 2:21 left in the game, after Hoyte gained 52 yards on four carries on the drive.
Carson completed 11-of-26 passes for 63 yards and had two interceptions and was sacked three times. Thomas McBride was the leading rusher with 17 yards. Hoyte led the Golden Rams with 118 yards rushing and Jennings was 19-of-34 for 277 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Jamaal Massaline led the Benedict defense with eight tackles each.

Kentucky State at Lane
The Kentucky State Thorobreds defeated the Lane College Dragons, 17-6, at Lane Field in Jackson, TN on Saturday.
Lane jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on a 49-yard touchdown run by Evan Yabu with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter.
Kentucky State scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter, including an eight-yard pass to Troy Churchill from Jerrel Noland, who also scored on a one-yard run.
The Thorobreds added a 26-yard field goal from Cade Berryman late in third quarter to score the game’s final points.
KSU featured a balanced attack with 205 yards rushing, led by 110 yards Andrew Ramsey, and 227 yards passing from Noland.
Lane’s Paris Hopper and Corey Jones led all tacklers with 13 and 10, respectively, while Bernard Crawford led KSU with eight spots.

Morehouse at Fort Valley State
David Carter rushed for 351 yards and four touchdowns, powering Morehouse to a 49-12 win over the Fort Valley State University Wildcats.
Clicking on all cylinders, Morehouse scored early and often, taking a 42-12 half-time lead and cruising the rest of the way. It was the third time this season that Morehouse, #8 in the NCAA Super Region Two, has scored more than 46 points.
Carter rushed for 251yards in the first half alone, easily breaking the Morehouse single-game record of 242 yards, set by John David Washington, in 2003.
Carter's record-breaking day was set up by the Morehouse defense, which forced seven turnovers -- five interceptions and two fumbles -- and held the Wildcats to one of their lowest outputs of the season.
Cornerback Justin Oliver also had a record-breaking day, intercepting four Wildcat passes and leading Morehouse in tackles. His four picks surpassed the previous record of three interceptions, which is shared by five former Tigers.
Oliver turned in one of the best defensive plays of game, stripping a Wildcat receiver of the ball as he crossed the goal line. The fumble was recovered by safety Darrius Williams, who also collected two interceptions. Red-shirt freshman Corey Denson picked off a Wildcat pass and returned it 35 yards.
The Maroon Tigers held the Wildcats to minus-10 yards rushing, well below their 125-yards per game average.
When the final buzzer sounded, Morehouse had season-highs in rushing yards (536) and total yards (662).
Fort Valley State was led by Ricky Johnson, who led all tacklers with a career-high 19 tackles, including 12 solo, and wide receiver Chris Slaughter, who had seven catches for a game-high 127 yards and two touchdowns.
