CAA Tournament Time Is Here!

The first game of the day on quarter-final Saturday in the CAA Basketball Tournament here on HSRN featured the top seeded Hofstra Pride taking on the 9th seeded Drexel Dragons. The Pride got it done, beating Drexel 80-67. Hofstra was led by the CAA Player of the Year Juan-ya Green who poured in 22 points. Brian Bernardi made a 14 point contribution while Ameen Tanksley had a 13 point day. Next up for Hofstra will be #5 William & Mary.
William and Mary got it done in the 2nd game of the day. The Tribe ran away from James Madison 79-64 to advance to semi-final Sunday. Omar Prewitt led the way for the Tribe with a 25 point ballgame. He was 9 of 16 from the field, and grabbed four rebounds. The bench combined for 29 points to help the William & Mary cause. Next up for William & Mary will be a date in the semi’s with a chance to advance to their 3rd straight CAA Championship game.
In game number 3 on the day, the underdog College of Charleston Cougars gave #2 seed UNCW all they could handle. However, the Seahawks bounced back from a 16 point deficit to pull out a 66-64 win of Charleston. Marcus Bryan had a career high 16 points to lead the Wilmington cause. Chris Flemmings caught fire after the half and poured in 13 points, including 3 of 6 from deep. UNCW advances to take on the winner of the next game on the floor, #3 Towson vs. #6 Northeastern.
