ROAD TEAMS GO 3-2 IN MEN’S #CAAHOOPS

UNCW edged Elon 86-82 at Trask Coliseum to win its school-record 10th straight game, but road teams went 3-2 in CAA men’s basketball action on Thursday night.

Sophomore Jordon Talley scored a team-high 19 points, including six free throws in the final 1:52, as UNCW improved to 11-2 in CAA play and extended their lead atop the league standings to two games. Freshman Tyler Seibring paced four Elon players in double digits with 18 points.

Hofstra got a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds from sophomore Rokas Gustys as the Pride earned an 86-80 road victory at William & Mary. Senior Juan’ya Green also posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists as the Pride (9-4 in CAA) ended W&M’s four-game winning streak and moved into a tie for second place. The Tribe (9-4 in CAA) were led by junior guard Omar Prewitt, who poured in 25 points.

Sophomore Joey McLean scored six points in the final 31 seconds as James Madison held on for a 56-52 triumph at College of Charleston. The Dukes, who moved into a tie for second at 9-4, received a team-high 16 points from Ron Curry. The Cougars got a team-best 15 points from freshman guard Marquise Pointer.

Senior David Walker scored 18 points as Northeastern ended a six-game slide with a 48-44 victory at Towson. With the performance, Walker eclipsed the 1,500-point for his career. Towson, which dropped to 8-5 in CAA play. was led by forward John Davis with 10 points.

Senior forward Marvin King-Davis led five players in double digits with 23 points as Delaware earned its first CAA victory of the season by topping rival Drexel, 69-60. The Dragons had four players in double figures, including Sammy Mojica with 16 points.
