Lafayette Handles Holy Cross On HSRN

The Lafayette Leopards (5-11, 2-3 Patriot League) landed in the win column on Wednesday night. In a game heard here on HSRN, Lafayette turned a 31-26 halftime lead into a 65-52 home win over the Holy Cross Crusaders (7-9, 2-3 Patriot League).
Wednesday night was a career night for the Leopards Zach Rufer. The 6’2 senior guard scored a career high 16 points to help lead Lafayette to their 2nd Patriot League win of the season. Lafayette had dropped 4 of their last 5, and 7 of their last 9 before posting the win.
Helping the Leopards cause was a 13 point contribution from Nick Linder, and an 11 point evening from Paulius Zalys.
It was a tough shooting night for Holy Cross, as they shot just 32 percent from the field and were 5 of 27 from deep. The Crusaders were led by Robert Champion’s 24 points.
Next up for Lafayette will be a trip to Annapolis to take Navy on Saturday evening. Holy Cross will look to bounce back at home against Lehigh on Saturday.
